Deke Smith is the Executive Director of the buildingSMARTalliance a dynamic and expanding council of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and the North American Chapter of buildingSMART International. He is also on the Executive Committee of buildingSMART International. The buildingSMARTalliance is focused on improving construction productivity through open standards supporting interoperability and improved decision making using building information modeling (BIM) which can eliminate non-value added effort or waste in the facilities industry. He is co-author of “Building Information Modeling: A Strategic Implementation Guide” published in 2009 by Wiley.

Jim is a member of the Construction Notebook in Las Vegas. Joining Jim's panel will be senior estimators from some of the largest firms in the southwestern United States.
